It was love at first note for our audience when Young Concert Artists’ chamber music touring ensemble—YCA On Tour—kicked off CMLV’s 72nd season last year. Now—ASAP—they’re back!
Sort of. Every year, the prestigious musical incubator and artist management organization sends out a different mix of fresh talent and instrumentation. Two violins and two cellos are expected this season, but who knows? One certainty is a charming eagerness to share their art and skill, not only with our concert audience, but also through local educational outreach. Last year’s contingent (violin, viola, cello, piano, and flute) followed their highly successful Sunday afternoon CMLV concert with a Monday visit to the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts, where the youthful players treated the even younger students to an impromptu performance and interactive talk back. Founded in 1961, YCA’s renowned alumni (260 so far) include the likes of Pinchas Zukerman, Dawn Upshaw, and Scott Yoo of the PBS series Now Hear This. Now hear them: the latest of the YCA magical musical crop.
