Young Concert Artists (YCA) on Tour

Founded in 1961, Young Concert Artists has helped launch the careers of several generations of the world’s elite classical musicians and ensembles. Unlike other prestigious competitions, the New York non-profit’s Susan Wadsworth International Auditions are not content with awarding mere cash prizes or bankable notoriety. Through the YCA Artist Fellowship Program, YCA nurtures highly talented young musicians and composers for three years, providing mentors, managers, publicity, and engagements at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and other prime international venues, while instilling an ethos of cultural outreach and artistic innovation. YCA On Tour, the organization’s chamber music touring ensemble, features both current fellows and experienced alums. This season CMLV welcomes a flourishing flutist, Anthony Trionfo, committed to helping other flutists of African descent towards their own success as classical musicians; a violinist, Risa Hokamura, who has been winning top international prizes since the age of 10; a renowned violist, Hsin-Yun Huang, who premiered an environmentally-themed musical with shadow puppets and whale songs; an accomplished cellist, Alex Cox, who moonlights as a software engineer (or vice versa); and a pianist, Ying Li, who celebrated Mozart’s 266th birthday by live-streaming a free, all-Amadeus concert on WQXR.
